Genesis 2:15 - 17; 3:1-10
Today we will focus our lenses on one critical aspect of obedience. That is obedience to our parents. Each Christian must be willing to submit to parental guidance and control. The Scripture commands us to obey our parents in the Lord. Except there is a deviation from the word of God, we must learn to show maximum respect to our parents.
Long-life will satisfy all who obey their parents and show them respect. True Christians must live in cordial relationship with both nuclear and extended families.
Parental blessings are needed to succeed in life. Being submissive in the church circles while blatantly rebelling in the home is not the spirit of Christ. Let our light so shine before men so as to gain godly testimonies at home.
Disobedience to parents is a rebellion that denies the spirit of Christ in us.
PRAYER: Pray for forgiveness of sins and ask God for the grace to be submissive to our parents.
MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK: “Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey; whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness.” Romans 6: 16 (NIV)
